How to count Schengen days in Croatia

Croatia joined the Schengen Area on 1 January 2023. Every day spent in Croatia now counts toward the 90-day allowance in the rolling 180-day period, exactly like France, Germany or Spain. Days spent in Croatia before 1 January 2023 do not count.

Side-trip rules

Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania: outside Schengen — days there don't count.
Slovenia, Italy, Hungary (neighbouring Schengen): count toward the same 90-day allowance.
Every re-entry into Croatia adds a full day to your Schengen total (entry day counts).
The Neum coastal corridor (BiH) briefly exits Schengen — the exit day and the re-entry day both count as Croatian days at each border.
